This week we were asked to do some PR and Photography on behalf of Matrix Fitness Systems to publicise a high profile Charity event in London held by Marriott International in support of The Prince’s Trust.
Matrix Fitness Systems is the commercial division of Johnson Health Tech UK Ltd, a supplier of a complete range of premium commercial grade cardiovascular and strength-training equipment for health clubs and other fitness facilities including hotels, spa, golf and country clubs, government and professional sports facilities.
We had the privilege of interviewing and photographing the Marriott senior management team, Matrix management and also The Princes Trust for a press release to the health and fitness industry.
Here’s the final press release in full:
Global hospitality industry leaders, Marriott International, with the support of premium fitness equipment suppliers, Matrix Fitness, raised £960 for The Prince’s Trust Fairbridge Programme at a charity event in London as part of a series of fundraising events for the charity this year.
Held at Marriott’s European headquarters in London, 48 Marriott employees cycled 280 miles, on three of Matrix’s 7Xe upright bikes, the equivalent distance from their London headquarters to their Marriott Paris Rive Gauche hotel, which donated two nights’ accommodation to the charity. In addition, the London Marriott Grosvenor Square sponsored one night’s accommodation to support the event.
Marriott’s commitment to creating and supporting employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth has led to long term support of The Prince’s Trust. Through “World of Opportunity,” Marriott’s charitable giving programme for Europe founded in 2012, the company aims to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds reach their full potential by providing life skills and vocational opportunities through two charitable partners: SOS Children’s Villages in Continental Europe and The Prince’s Trust Fairbridge Programme in the United Kingdom.
The recent charity cycling event in London is one of a number of events Marriott is holding this year (including a “Three Peak Challenge” held earlier this month) to support The Prince’s Trust. The money raised through the cycling event will fund two places on an ‘Employ Me’ course, which equips young people with the skills required to gain employment and make positive changes to their lives.
Reiner Sachau, Chief Operations Officer for Marriott International in Europe, says, “Our focus at Marriott is helping young people develop their skills to help them enter into the workplace. Matrix and Johnson Health Tech UK are aligned with us in their support of young people and we are very thankful to them for their help with this event.”
Jon Johnston, Managing Director of Johnson Health Tech UK, Matrix’s parent company, says “’It’s a pleasure to help Marriott in their efforts to support such a worthwhile charity which does such vital work. Hopefully, the twenty four hour cycle event will have a significant impact on Marriott’s work with The Prince’s Trust Fairbridge Programme this year while also helping Marriott’s team of active fundraisers get a challenging workout while supporting this noble cause! We wish the very best to all those taking part in Marriott’s fundraising events this year”.
Tom Keer, Head of Corporate Partnerships at The Prince’s Trust says, “Since November 2011, The Prince’s Trust has been working closely with Marriott to deliver employability courses across the UK. These courses reach some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised young people in the UK and provide an insight into a working world that has always seemed out of reach for them. To date, Marriott has raised over £130,000 and helped over 200 young people develop their skills on the journey to employment. The Prince’s Trust is continually grateful for the hard work and effort that Marriott and its staff put in to helping change the lives of young people across the country”.
