Emerald Frog Marketing’s Managing Director Jo Evans was recently invited by Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce to be a judge for the “Young Entrepreneur Challenge”.
Budding entrepreneurs from schools and colleges across the region were invited to explain their business ideas to a panel of judges of their plans to produce a product or to provide a service. Entrants’ written submissions included a detailed business plan; identifying what help and support they need to get started and facts and figures to demonstrate that they have a realistic idea of the budget and the know how required to run a business.
Chamber experts supported entrants to develop their business case at a local Business Development Workshop followed by a “Present and Pitch Workshop”, led by Emerald Frog Marketing, to help them translate their ideas into a persuasive pitch.
The grand final took place at the East of England Careers Show, on 23 June at the East of England Showground, Peterborough where finalists had the opportunity to present their business ideas and be interrogated by a panel of Chamber Experts. All presenting finalists received a £100 cash reward; the offer of a Chamber mentor and opportunities to access further business support and advice.
The winner James Tilley (with his “Torch Glove” concept) received a £500 cash reward to help him develop his business plan plus a marketing consultancy session from Emerald Frog Marketing and opportunities to access business coaching.
Congratulations to James, and finalists Keiron and Sarah-Jane for their pitches, ideas and business plans.
The Young Entrepreneur Challenge is sponsored by the Greater Cambridge, Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership.
