The Frogs have just returned from this year’s very glitzy Mumpreneur Conference 2010 at the Heart of England Conference Centre near Warwick.
It’s one of the first networking events we have been to where people actually introduce themselves by their Twitter names! Strange initially to get used to, but kinda cool!
There is a close cyber network that has already been built up before the event. Many mums know each other prior to the event from connecting and supporting each other via social media such as Twitter and across internet forums. It’s a great feeling – meeting like-minded people whose lives you already know a little bit about from their Twitter stream.
A fun day filled with guest speakers and seminars, the conference recognised the achievements of many hard working, entrepreneurial mums in business. The categories included (among others) Best Start Up, Best Green Business, Best Business Support, Most Unique Product and very well done to all the very worthy winners!
Overall Most Inspirational Business Mum was won by Carry Somers of Fair Trade company Pachacuti. Well done Carry!
Expert seminars across the day included:
- A tax and accountancy workshop by Amy Taylor
- Goal setting by Roberta Jerram
- Sales training by Laura Rigney
- Business law by lawyer Suzanne Dibble
- Social Media by the groovy shoe wearing Rebekah Harriman
- Creating a successful website by Sadie Knight
- SEO with Alison Rothwell
Guest speakers for the day were self-made millionaire (and very glamorous) Emma Wimhurst and Virtual PA “Godmother” Carmen McDougall.
Having drunk a glass each of undiluted squash before realising it was indeed that, and eating the soap nuts* out of our goody bag we are now off home to input all out freshly acquired stack of (hopefully!) customer business cards.
Next year…..an award will be ours! Oh yes, it WILL be ours! Mwah ha ha!

Next stop is Brighton on October 5th at the Mums Business Conference where will be exhibiting. Please come along to our stand and say hello!
*By the way, learn from us: Soap nuts, should you ever come across them, look like chewy dates but should in fact go in the washing machine. They don’t taste very nice and to eat them is a social faux pas.

Was great to meet you both at the conference – it was fab wasn’t it! My only regret was that I didn’t get to speak to more people but it was great to be in such an energised room with so many talented ladies!
I shall most definately be staying away from eating soap nuts! Shame we didnt get to meet a fellow frog in person!
Oh no! We missed you! The name badges should have been bigger as we felt a little weird staring at other ladies’ bosoms reading their Twitter names!
